Understand and improve complex structures

Through calculations based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) using ANSYS and CFX for liquids and gases, we optimize the structure of our (or your) designs according to various criteria. Thus, desired rigidity and strength can be determined. Undesirable resonance effects can be excluded and the influence of temperature can be examined.

With the help of FEM simulation, we can reduce costs for test, trials or any improvements that would otherwise only be discovered through practical experience.

Structural Mechanics

In structural mechanics, results can be obtained from the following NICO FEM calculations:

  • Static: calculating deformations, strains and stresses of a structure under static load - linear and non-linear material and part geometry are possible (e.g., the simulation of plastic bending).
  • Modal: calculating eigenfrequencies and eigenforms of a structure with linear material and geometric conditions.
  • Harmonics: Calculating the vibrational response of excited harmonic structures with linear material and geometric conditions.
  • Dents: calculations of distortion and deflection under linear material and geometric conditions.


The thermal calculations provide vital information on temperature and heat flux density, as well as their impact on the structural mechanics due to thermal conduction, radiation and convection.

The temporal response (transient analysis) can also be displayed.

Fluid Mechanics

In fluid mechanics NICO calculates, i.a., mass flows, pressure losses and flow forces of streaming fluids in both figure stationary as well as transient processes.

These and thermal analyses (including thermal conduction and thermal radiation) are performed.

Simulations save effort later

Thanks to this high-performance software, NICO captures new applications for FEM-based simulations. It can often be useful and efficient to use simulations even before production of unique pieces.
